Design in Metamorphosis
Resulting from a design practice marked by a radical interest in experimentation, the exhibition Design in Metamorphosis, double solo show dedicated to the work of young designers Audrey Large and Théophile Blandet, curated by Barbara Brondi & Marco Rainò and hosted by the prestigious Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève showcases Audrey Large and Théophile Blandet’s expressive exploration of contemporary research design.
The projects of the two young designers are framed in a fluid language where opposing polarities of tangible and intangible, unique and reproducible, artisanal and industrial are amalgamated-even somewhat paradoxically. Large and Blandet’s objects interpret the zeitgeist by means that speak of alteration, mutation, change, identifying design as an effective medium of representation and manifestation of the transitory.
The exhibition reveals a sequence of body-chrysalis with strong expressive power that stimulate reflection on the concept of identity and the potential semantic shift of the word metamorphosis.
In addition to each designer’s series of outputs and two collaborative experiments, Design in Metamorphosis exhibits the world premiere of Audrey Large’s special project created as a result of her residency with IN Residence, inspired by the theme “Metamorphosis Signals”.
